Lots going on today. Woke up late, both kiddos had their Christmas parties. I have been baking my butt off the past three days. Macaroons, Neiman Marcus bars, sugar cookies, brownies, three apple spice cakes and fig bars.
Thank the good Lord above, I am not a sweet eater. Now if I were making spinach dip, queso, cheese platters and such........
Let's just say I would be 436 lbs.
Anyhoo, I was baking last night, enjoying my red wine, listening to Christmas music and reminiscing about the good ol' college days. I got so tickled thinking about the following conversation I had with my best friend, Kelley, 14 years ago this week.
Winter break, 1995, Fort Worth, Texas:
Coco (bawling): Kell? I failed the semester!! I just don't get it, what went wrong? I had a tutor, I studied, I went to class most of the time. My parents are going to kill me. How did this happen?
Kell: Court, are you serious? YOU SOLD YOUR BOOKS BACK BEFORE FINALS!!! (laughter from Kelley's dad, Jim, in the background.)
Coco: Shit. You're right. Don't mention this to my parents. Gotta run.
Sorry mom and dad. True story and a verbatim conversation.
Be back tomorrow with random thoughts Friday.
ta-ta for now!!
